Lean Bronze Certification Review Course & Exam in Worcester, MA – October 7, 8 & 9, 2010!
Sponsors:  Worcester SME Chapter 25 & WPI Student Chapter

Registration deadline:  September 17, 2010

Lean Certification benefits you and your employer. It benefits you by providing a widely recognized lean certification credential. Your company benefits from knowing that its lean practitioners meet a national standard for lean practices and ideas.

SME, AME, Shingo Prize and ASQ have combined efforts to produce the first nationally recognized lean certification consisting of three levels; Bronze, Silver and Gold. Each level provides an industry-recognized lean credential that documents your knowledge and skill. Candidates must complete the requirements of each level before progressing to the next.  Bronze level certification requires passing an exam and documenting your lean experience through the portfolio process.  For full details go to: http://www.sme.org/cgi-bin/certhtml.pl?/cert/lean_certification.htm&&SME&.

Not a traditional lean training seminar, this two-day review program (October 7 & 8, 2010) is a focused study session that prepares you to take the bronze level certification exam.  The body of knowledge is listed at http://www.sme.org/downloads/cert/lean/BOK.pdf.
Study materials for the course are listed at http://www.sme.org/downloads/cert/lean/Recommended_Readings.pdf.  These materials must be purchased prior to attending the course.  Attendees should read the materials prior to the course and bring them for use in the course and the open book exam.

The exam (optional) will be given on the morning of Oct 9.  Registrations and payments for the Review Course and Certification Exam must be made separately.  See instructions in the program details section below.

Our facilitator will be Pat Wardwell, Chief Operating Officer, GBMP, Inc. Lean Gold Certified. Pat has over 24 years of experience in continuous improvement, operations management and related support functions.  In her current role as Chief Operating Officer for the non-profit organization, GBMP (Greater Boston Manufacturing Partnership), she is active in developing programs and products for the lean community, and provides support to the company’s consulting team and client base.  Prior to joining GBMP in 2000, she was Vice President of Operations for a 1990 Shingo Prize winning company and also served as the company’s first Continuous Improvement Manager. Over the past decade Pat has worked with a wide variety of companies to apply continuous improvement principles and techniques in both operational and administrative areas.  Several area companies trained and coached by Pat have been winners or medallion recipients of the Shingo Prize for Manufacturing Excellence.
