POSITION SUMMARY: 
 
Superior Group is looking for a Sr. Mechanical Designer for our Client located in Westford, MA
 
·         Mechanical Design support to various Tactical Reconnaissance Systems Projects, including both new product development and production support of complex opto-mechanical assemblies.
·         Develop conceptual and detailed design models of precision optical-mechanical systems using AutoCAD 2D, CATIA V5 R22 & Pro/E Wildfire or Creo
·         Generate detailed drawings
·         Vault CAD models and drawings using Intralink PDM
·         Create or support Engineering Change Notices per company procedures
·         Assist in CAD modeling and drawing process improvement initiatives if needed
·         Must be a US Citizen

Required Skills / Qualifications:
 
·         Minimum of 8 years of CAD designing experience
·         Minimum of 3 years of Pro/E experience.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
 
·         preferably including Pro/E Creo
·         Experience with precision tolerance assemblies; optical assemblies and mechanisms preferred
·         Familiar with Intralink PDM & Engineering Change Notices

Job Description:
· Engineering and Design of custom pharmaceutical equipment. Reviews customer requirements and specification and relates them to product design, Coordinates Information between customers and vendors.

Requirements:
· Experience with 2D and 3D CAD design software; Pro/Engineer preferred.
· Ability to construct detailed 3D assemblies along with fully documented 2D drawings per ANSI Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing standards.

Education
Requirements:
· Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities
To drive and assist with the design, development, and ongoing support of products and manufacturing processes inherent to the business. The position's key responsibilities include mechanical design and modifications, production process design and
improvement, customer workflow improvement, production cell layout, new product introduction, hardware/software development, drafting, and potentially machining.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
  - Provide technical support and expertise to manufacturing groups with regard to issue resolution, troubleshooting, and improvements to current product lines and corresponding manufacturing processes.
    - Design, develop, troubleshoot, test and evaluate electromechanical instruments and systems involving precision motion control, automation technology, computer interfaces, and microscopy in order to support and improve upon current and new product platforms.
    - Develop and implement modifications of processes, equipment, and facility required through the use of Lean Manufacturing based concepts to address expected increases in productivity, quality and reduction in costs.

    - Troubleshoot, design and develop scripts to test and automate tasks involving microscopy products.
    - Design, develop, repair, and construct mechanical components pertaining to automated instrumentation utilizing machining skills and equipment such as milling platforms, lathes, grinders, etc.
    - Install, interface, maintain, and troubleshoot automated and interactive measurement and preparation equipment (strainers, spectrometers) and microscopy equipment.
    - Create detailed drawings and models using CAD programs as part of the development process and communication of design ideas. Utilize sensitive measurement devices and techniques.
    - Communicate project progress through written reports and formal slide presentations to management.
    - Manage outsourced fabrications as needed. This includes plastic injection molding, CNC machining, and other fabrication not achievable with in-house equipment and tooling.
    - Handle hazardous waste as appropriate.

Job Description
Design equipment to meet contract requirements; create effective parametric designs from existing 2D designs; maintain the overall engineering and project goals (budget & schedule); coordinate designers and drafters to insure project design efforts; interface with customer(s) to insure conformance to specifications; promote continuous design improvements.
 This is an approximate 6 month contract that has the possibility of going permanent for the right candidate OR it could go permanent from the beginning. My client is located in the Lewiston, ME area.
Requirements
-Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry related experience with medium to large metal structures (preferably in the power generation field).
-Inventor/Solidworks proficient.
